Dr. Phil--who exploits troubled people for a living--is now going after Michael Vick who at one time exploited animals. The "doc" asked 'how much punishment is enough for Vick' as if the question had not already been answered. It WAS answered by a judge back in 2007! Who's Dr. Phil to say when someone has done their time? The man is $20M in debt. What would you have him do to work that off? Open a kennel? A man has to make a living. Here's the big dig: Dog fighting has absolutely NOTHING TO DO WITH FOOTBALL. It's completely unrelated. If the NFL says he can play, let the man play. Should he hide his talent? Was that part of his sentencing?

Congrats to Michael Vick from the Conservative Proposal. You are a free man. I prefer Burger King if I must eat fast food, but after seeing the Unhappy Meals and poor execution of PETA propaganda I decided to make a trip to the Golden Arches for some Chicken McNuggets. I entered the fine establishment and was greeted by a clean enviornment with a nice water wall, laughing children, and smiling employee faces. How many other companies are like that? McDonald's is a fine American entity and I am sick to death of PETA's misguided efforts. I believe Bill O'Reilly missed the point in last night's segment. I don't care what message a group puts out, but they had better go through parents instead of seeking to indoctrinate innocent children directly. No one will teach a belief system to my children without my previous examination and consent.
Anyway, I had a great box of crispy, hot chicken with BBQ sauce. It tasted great Ingrid Newkirk! Your squabbles hurt my ears worse than any dying chicken. My only disappointment with McDonald's is that it does not have more animals on the menu.

Let's Talk Health Care Reform...

It's been a while! I spent last month in Guatemala. For me, full time school means full time work. It's rough, but life could always be worse as Hussein Obama and Nancy Pelosi continue to prove.

I just had the opportunity to view the Arlen Spector town hall meeting in Lebannon PA. Here are a few problems I had with it. Arlen Spector is the biggest turncoat in politics right now. He had the nerve to go and lecture a town hall filled with the people who elected him as a Conservative. Shortly after the White House changed parties, so did he. I don't have a problem with someone changing their political viewpoint. Indeed, I hope that the majority of my generation will. What I have a problem with is the fair-weather politics. If he ran as a Republican, he needs to do what he was elected to do until the end of his elected term. THEN if he chooses, run as a democrat. And represent those constituants. What scares me is that politicians are being elected to do one thing, then turning around and doing whatever they want to do. Politicians are elected to do what WE tell them to do. Not what politicians want to do. Unbelievable.

Secondly, I recently had a debate with an old sergeant in the Army. He wants socialized medicine (despite his oath to support and defend the Constitution) and repeated the phrase that there are "Haves" and "Have Nots." He argued that I was one of the "Haves" and that I was responsible for the "Have Nots." My reply: I am not a "Have." I am a producer. I earn. I did not simply "have" my life. It did not appear magically. I sold my soul for the next few years to the military so that I could support my family, so that I could provide them with health care. There are not "Haves" and "Have Nots." There are THOSE WHO EARN and THOSE WHO TAKE. We do have a responsibility to the handicapped. We do not have a responsibility to the lazy.

Third, I just want to mention an observation. When you view the opposing sides of the attendees at Barak Hussein Obama's health care meeting going on in New Hampshire today, which side of the street is waving American Flags? That's all you need to know.

America's traditions being undermined...

It is time to get this out in the open. I'm sure this may anger some of you, but A Conservative Proposal does not have a following large enough for enemies. Feel free to disagree, but please back up your arguments in the comment box below.

Soccer is the worst sport ever!

I make this declaration for several reasons...

The game itself is too simple. Anyone with two feet and a rock can play soccer. There are 3 year old leagues that would be difficult to differenciate from a professional one. Soccer lacks the beautiful subtleties found in real sports, such as Baseball.

Soccer is low action. Watching a ball go back and forth between players 20 yards away from one another is plain boring. For the most part, players never get anywhere near each other.

Soccer is low scoring. Scores of 1-0 and 2-0 make spectatorship a dull prospect indeed.

Soccer is unAmerican. Our National Pastime is Baseball. Basketball has passion. Football is the nation's favorite. Even Lacrosse is genuinely American-invented and played by the Native Americans. Anyone in America who doesn't know the words to 'Take me out to the Ballgame' needs to go back to the country they came from.

Flopping. If you think this is bad in the NBA, try watching greasy haired men in knee socks rolling around like 3 year olds on a soccer field. Soccer is notorious for this pseudostrategy.

There's only a champion every four years. A world cup can only be played every four years because it takes that long to drum up interest.

No hands...how can you possible show ability and talent in a sport where you cannot even use your God-given hands? Contrast soccer (kick, run, kick) with a sport like Football (real football) where you throw, catch, run, juke, kick, leap, tackle, tip, block, spin, etc.

Lack of history. Can anyone tell me where the soccer hall of fame is? Can you name five professional soccer players from 10 or more years ago? Does the Smithsonian have a soccer collection? Could you imagine a Ken Burns documentary lasting even one hour on soccer?

Soccer's greatest sin: Ties. How abominable. What world to they live in where a competition has no outcome? Why in the world should anyone watch, play, or even concieve a game that has no winner? That's the reason we compete...so someone wins and someone loses. That's the whole point. There are winners and there are losers.

Please feel free to comment below...Here's the picture of the week...another reminder that we are the baddest country on the planet...

Memorial Day...

Happy Memorial Day and THANK YOU to the other service members for their sacrifices-especially those abroad. Our prayers are with you. We pray for the safe accomplishment of your missions. Fight the good fight! We should all take some time on this day for reflection on those who went before us.
There are many great books out there but here are a few American Greats worth spending time in.

1776 by David McCullough

The Federalist Papers - John Jay, Alexander Hamilton, and James Madison

The Naked Communist by Cleon Skousen

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving

Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose

There's a brief list...what others would you add? Which have you read? Washington Irving crafted the first true American Folk Classic with The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. He's actually buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetary-pretty cool. Skousen's Naked Communist exposes the evil of communism and how it spreads. This is a scary read because it was written nearly 50 years ago. The scary part is its relevance today. Undaunted Courage follows the stories of Lewis and Clark. As always, feel free to comment to our ever-expanding lists.

Gods and Generals

The Crossing

Ken Burns' The Civil War

Other Florentine Documentaries: Mark Twain, Lewis and Clark, Thomas Jefferson, BASEBALL...

Band of Brothers

John Adams

Liberty: The American Revolution

Rescue Dawn

American Outlaws

No Intelligence Allowed

While the last documentary on this list fails to remain objective, I do think it raises valid arguments. The Crossing is a lesser known A&E movie about Washington's Crossing of the Delaware. American Outlaws does not follow history by the letter and is here solely for entertainment purposes. Its simply a fun movie. (This film demonstrates well the truth that truth truly is stranger than fiction...for example, Jesse James' mother did not die when a bomb was planted to kill him-it blew her arm off but when the director tried to portray the incident in American Outlaws, it simply was too unbelievable/silly so the script was changed.) HBO's Band of Brothers is definitely NOT family viewing but it does give what is probably the most honest portrayal of its subject. John Adams is also a worthwhile HBO production and can be viewed by a larger audience. John Adams is adapted from 2002's Pulitzer Prize winning biography of the same name by historian David McCullough. Let's hope they undertake 1776!

And now for this week's Picture of the Week...

Oh the places you'll go...

For this week's list, I humbly submit the Top Ten places every American should visit in this great land. Please offer your thoughts and add (or give reason for the removal of) places, monuments, sites, or cities you believe belong.

The National Archives in Washington DC

The National Mall in Washington DC

The Alamo-San Antonio TX

Mount Vernon-VA

Gettysburg Battle Field-Gettysburg PA

Arlington National Cemetery-VA

Independence Hall-Philadelphia PA

The USS Arizona Memorial-HA

Thomas Jefferson's Monticello-VA

The Statue of Liberty-NY

I have left off some of the more obvious sites such as Mt. Rushmore. I believe that there is little historical significance and the reason for its creation was to attract tourism to South Dakota-a fine business ploy, but not worth travelling across the country for. For those residing relatively close by, it makes for a great trip, but unless I have another reason to pass through the Dakotas, I probably would not be there. It is a great feat I do not wish to detract from. It just fails to make the cut here. No offense Mr. Borglum!

The Archives are listed separately here though they are just off of the National Mall because I believe this is the number one site to visit. Contained in the walls of the Archives are the Magna Carta, The Declaration of Independence, The Bill of Rights and the Constitution as the centerpiece. There are exhibitions and more to see as well, but the main draw are these crucial, beautiful documents. The Archives of the United States belongs on a world list.

The majority of this list could be accomplished within 10 days in Washington, Virginia, and Pennsylvania-with the Liberty Bell to boot. The trip to San Antonio is not out of anyone's way-the food, the Riverwalk, the Tower of the Americas (a space needle 87 ft taller than Seattle's), Sea World, and more. San Antonio is a great town.

Which from the list have you been to?

And now for The Picture of the Week...

The Liberal Agenda...

This week we will list the key components of the liberals' platform that are absolutely contrary to the values that made our nation great.
